NBA: Surprise Teams Gunning to Make it Three Straight

The Hawks, Pelicans, Thunder, and Warriors are among four of the seven undefeated teams left in the NBA so far, and they’re planning to get their third consecutive wins tomorrow.

Only one between the Hawks and Thunder can stay unblemished, while the Pelicans and the Warriors will take on the Blazers and the Clippers, respectively.

Elsewhere, the Sixers and Bucks will visit the Pacers and the Nets in a couple of fun battles between Eastern Conference rivals.

Despite the lean five-game schedule, SBOTOP basketball fans should still be able to get their fair share of NBA 2024 highlights. And today, we’ll preview these matches one by one.

Philadelphia Sixers @ Indiana Pacers

The NBA 2024 odds favour the Pacers to improve to 2-1 tomorrow and extend the Sixers’ losing streak to three consecutive matches because the visitors are still undermanned.

Joel Embiid and Paul George have yet to play for Philadelphia this season due to injuries, leaving Tyrese Maxey all alone to shoulder the heavy offencive load.

In contrast, the Pacers are deeper, although they’re coming off a blowout defeat against the Knicks on Friday. The only notable absentee they have is their free agent acquisition, James Wiseman, who tore his Achilles against the Pistons.

Tyrese Haliburton has been inefficient with his shot in his first two games of the 2024-25 campaign, even going scoreless against the Knicks, but he is way too talented to continue to struggle for an extended period.

Betting tip: Indiana Pacers Asian Handicap -7.50 @ 1.88

Milwaukee Bucks @ Brooklyn Nets

The Bucks aim to return to winning ways when they visit the winless Nets at the Barclays Center since they’re coming off a 133-122 defeat against the Bulls in their home opener.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard combined for 66 points, but they ultimately fell short because they didn’t get enough production from their teammates, especially from the bench.

Milwaukee still don’t have Khris Middleton because he is still recovering from an ankle injury, but they should be fine since Taurean Prince and Gary Trent Jr. are filling in well for the one-time NBA champion.

As for the Nets, they aren’t expected to win many games this season, and they have now lost back-to-back games against the Hawks and Magic.

Betting tip: Milwaukee Bucks Asian Handicap -10.00 @ 2.03

New Orleans Pelicans @ Portland Trail Blazers

The Pelicans and the Blazers will compete in the second game of their back-to-back set tomorrow, and the former aims to win again.

New Orleans won 105-103 in their first matchup with Portland, as they rallied from behind and Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson produced two clutch plays.

With the game level at 103 points, Ingram hit the go-ahead fadeaway jumper with 4.9 seconds left, and Williamson subsequently blocked Anfernee Simons’ layup attempt to ice the game.

The Pelicans are without Dejounte Murray for several weeks due to a fractured hand, but they should be alright against the hapless Blazers.

Betting tip: New Orleans Pelicans Asian Handicap -7.00 @ 1.94

Atlanta Hawks @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Two of the league’s top young point guards are set to square off at the Paycom Center, as Trae Young and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will meet for the first time this season.

Trae Young is off to a blistering start for Atlanta, as he has notched at least 30 points and 10 assists during their opening victories over the Nets and the Hornets.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has also stuffed the stat sheet for Oklahoma City in their wins over the Nuggets and the Bulls.

The winner of this game will be determined by which supporting cast will perform better tomorrow.

Chet Holmgren is holding it down in the paint for the Thunder, as he is averaging 25.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 4.0 blocks per game.

Meanwhile, the Hawks have Onyeka Okongwu, who is averaging 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, despite playing behind Clint Capela.

LA Clippers @ Golden State Warriors

The new-look Warriors are off to a great start, as they demolished the Blazers and the Jazz.

Stephen Curry may have found his new splash brother in Buddy Hield, who is averaging 24.5 points while shooting 75-per cent from beyond the arc and coming off the bench.

As for the Clippers, James Harden is carrying the team with averages of 29.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game. During their 109-104 win against the Nuggets, Harden got help from Norman Powell, who went off for 37 points.
