NBA: Lakers and Celtics Have Blockbuster Clash at the Garden

The two winningest franchises in NBA history will clash at the hallowed TD Garden tomorrow, as the Celtics host the Lakers. These two teams come into this game in fine form, but only one can stay undefeated, and they will bring their A-game for the sake of pride.

The Celtics have won three consecutive games to improve their record to 45-18. They are the second seed in the Eastern Conference and are trying to catch up to the Cavaliers. The Lakers, meanwhile, are also the second seed in the Western Conference with a 40-21 record and have won eight straight.

Elsewhere, the Nets, Pelicans, Pacers, Wizards, Bulls, Magic, and Pistons will visit the Hornets, Rockets, Hawks, Raptors, Heat, Bucks, and Warriors.

With eight games on the menu, SBOTOP basketball fans will get their fair share of NBA 2025 highlights. Continue reading below for a preview of tomorrow’s top three matches.

Orlando Magic @ Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks are keen to stay within the Top 4 for as long as possible to gain homecourt advantage in the playoffs. They’ve won four straight games, improving their record to 36-25.

Milwaukee are coming off a 137-107 win over the shorthanded Mavericks last Wednesday, as Giannis Antetokounmpo became the 52nd NBA player in history to reach 20,000 career points. The Greek Freak finished the game with 32 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists on 13-for-20 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Damian Lillard had 34 points, three rebounds, five assists, two steals, and five three-pointers on 11-for-15 shooting from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. AJ Green, Kyle Kuzma, Jericho Sims, and Kevin Porter Jr. added 18, 17, 10, and 10 points.

The Magic dropped to ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-35 record since they’re on a five-game slide, and the NBA 2025 odds don’t expect them to beat the reigning NBA Cup champions

During their 125-123 loss to the Bulls last Thursday, Paolo Banchero and Cole Anthony had 20 points each, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Franz Wagner, and Wendell Carter Jr. added 19, 18, and 17 points. Orlando haven’t been the same since Jalen Suggs suffered a season-ending knee injury recently.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Boston Celtics

The Celtics had one of their worst games of the 2024-25 campaign against the Lakers, losing to them 117-96 last January at Crypto.com Arena, so they’re out for revenge.

Boston are fresh from a 123-108 win over Philadelphia last night, as Jayson Tatum recorded 35 points, seven rebounds, two assists, three steals, and five three-pointers on 14-for-23 shooting from the field in just three quarters. Payton Pritchard, Baylor Scheierman, Torrey Craig, and Derrick White added 19, 15, 12, and 12 points. It was a solid win for the Celtics since they were shorthanded.

Jaylen Brown and Al Horford didn’t play against Philadelphia, but they should be back in the lineup against Los Angeles. However, Kristaps Porzingis (illness), Jrue Holiday (finger), and Sam Hauser (ankle) are questionable to play.

The Lakers are coming off a 113-109 overtime win against the Knicks yesterday, as Luka Doncic and LeBron James came to play. Doncic led the team with 32 points, seven rebounds, 12 assists, four steals, and four three-pointers on 9-for-23 shooting from the field and 10-for-12 from the free throw line. James added 31 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists on 11-for-23 shooting from the field. Gabe Vincent and Dalton Knecht sparked the Lakers’ bench production, combining for 23 points.

During their eight-game unbeaten run, Los Angeles have kicked things up a notch defencively, as they’ve only conceded 103.86 points per game from their opponents.

Detroit Pistons @ Golden State Warriors

The Pistons are in the middle of a resurgent season. They’ve gone 8-2 in their last 10 games, but they will be tested by the Warriors, who have only lost one game since trading for Jimmy Butler.

Detroit are fresh from a 123-115 defeat against the Clippers, as they couldn’t stop James Harden from dropping 50 points. Cade Cunningham finished with 37 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists on 15-for-25 shooting from the field. Dennis Schroder, Malik Beasley, Ausar Thompson, and Isaiah Stewart added 21, 14, 10, and 10 points in the losing effort.

The Warriors secured a 121-119 win over the Nets last night despite enduring a slow start. Stephen Curry notched 40 points, four rebounds, four assists, and seven three-pointers on 12-for-20 shooting from the field and a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. Jimmy Butler, Gary Payton II, Moses Moody, and Quinten Post added 25, 16, 10, and 10 points.
