Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Liverpool
Liverpool’s pursuit for their second Premier League title in the last three seasons is still at large and they are presented with a new challenge.
With a busy schedule on-hand – including two games in four days – Jurgen Klopp’s side are going to try and gather as much points as they can to maximise their position at the table.
Currently, they are at third place with 31 points which is only two points behind league leaders Chelsea. Liverpool just defeated Everton at Goodison Park in the hyped Merseyside Derby, so their confidence is high as they’ll head into Molineux.
Their host in the Wolves, meanwhile, have been underwhelming although they remain in a solid table position. Bruno Lage’s men are placed sixth with 21 points, which isn’t far from their main objective this term.

Liverpool remain as potent as ever
Liverpool’s demolition job on Everton yesterday served as a reminder on how dangerous the Reds can be if they are healthy.

Nonetheless, Liverpool became the first club in English football history to score two or more goals in 18 consecutive matches. As of this writing, they’ve now scored 43 goals in their first 14 league fixtures this term.
After suffering an upset at the hands of West Ham United not too long ago, Liverpool have now won four straight games in all competitions – which includes numerous Premier League 2021 highlights.
Wolves are lacking quality up front
The Wolves may need to borrow one of Liverpool’s forwards since they’re been struggling at the final third lately.
In their last five league games, Bruno Lage’s men have only scored three goals. However, it’s their defence that has somehow kept them afloat as they’ve secured three consecutive clean sheets.
During the said stretch, the Wolves have only lost once which is why they remain within arm’s reach of an European spot.
But if they are to achieve their main objective, they must find their shooting boots especially since they’re a side with decent attacking quality. Hwang Hee-chan is leading the pack with four goals while his fellow striker Raul Jimenez has three goals and two assists.
Adama Traore, who had his first start since their draw against Leeds United on October 23, was a bright spot in their goalless draw against Burnley yesterday as he went closest to a winner and he’s only going to get better with a few more reps.
History
Liverpool have owned the Wolves especially in their recent head-to-heads. In their last 17 Premier League meetings against each other, the Reds have won 12 times while the Wolves have won three times along with two draws.
The Reds achieved a double over the Wolves last term with an aggregate tally of 5-0. The Wolves’ last win over Liverpool happened at the Molineux in January 2019 via a 2-1 scoreline.
During their most recent meeting in March, Diogo Jota – who joined Liverpool last September 2020 – haunted his former team with the marginal goal before the half-time break to help the Reds secure a 1-0 win.
